{"id":1357,"date":"2007-06-18T12:16:24","date_gmt":"2007-06-18T11:16:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.splunge.co.uk\/richnilk\/?p=1357"},"modified":"2011-09-06T13:06:22","modified_gmt":"2011-09-06T12:06:22","slug":"1862007-%e2%80%93-monday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.splunge.co.uk\/richnilk\/1862007-%e2%80%93-monday\/","title":{"rendered":"18\/6\/2007 \u2013 Monday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lovely day.\u00a0 Hot with just the hint of a breeze.<\/p>\n<p>Paul was quite willing to help me with DIY jobs around the house, but I don\u2019t really have any DIY jobs, only projects.\u00a0 Projects that require planning and thought and purchasing and a considerable amount of effort and enthusiasm and perspicacity to undertake.\u00a0 And that\u2019s just the washing-up.\u00a0 And I\u2019m not sure I\u2019m ready to undertake any other projects at the moment, and anyway I didn\u2019t want to upset Paul with my hard task-mastering and quest for perfection seeing as though we were getting along so well.<\/p>\n<p>Instead we decided to make the most of the sun and went for a walk.\u00a0 It was meant to be a shortish walk around the block, but when we got into our stride we decided to push-on and try and make Beaulieu for lunch.\u00a0 In the heat it\u2019s difficult to walk far, but Beaulieu is all downhill and I managed to find a few wooded shortcuts which made the journey about an hour and a half.<\/p>\n<p>But our late start meant lunch was \u2013 literally \u2013 off the menu when we got there, but the beers were not.\u00a0 So we sampled the liquid menu to replenish those liquids lost on the trudge.\u00a0 We managed to get a snack at the patisserie before making the journey back home.\u00a0\u00a0 Took the shady road back up the hill, which is steeper but the only way to stay alive in 30 degree heat and one small bottle of water between us (what was that I was saying about project planning again).\u00a0 Managed to stay alive long enough to get back to the house and throw 2 litres of water down our necks.<\/p>\n<p>After a rest we started another bout of <em>petanque<\/em>, as Paul thought he might be getting the hang of it.\u00a0 Needless to say he hadn\u2019t, so his forfeit tonight was to make some <em>chapattis<\/em> to go with the veggie curry I\u2019d made the other night.\u00a0 The flour we\u2019d acquired at the mill yesterday was ideal for chapattis, as it turned out.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.splunge.co.uk\/richnilk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/CIMG4008.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-1386\" title=\"CIMG4008\" src=\"http:\/\/www.splunge.co.uk\/richnilk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/CIMG4008-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"687\" height=\"515\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.splunge.co.uk\/richnilk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/CIMG4008-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.splunge.co.uk\/richnilk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/CIMG4008-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 687px) 100vw, 687px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lovely day.\u00a0 Hot with just the hint of a breeze.
