{"id":1368,"date":"2007-06-21T12:31:03","date_gmt":"2007-06-21T11:31:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.splunge.co.uk\/richnilk\/?p=1368"},"modified":"2011-09-06T13:09:42","modified_gmt":"2011-09-06T12:09:42","slug":"2162007-%e2%80%93-thursday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.splunge.co.uk\/richnilk\/2162007-%e2%80%93-thursday\/","title":{"rendered":"21\/6\/2007 \u2013 Thursday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cool start, but becoming sunny in the afternoon with a fair breeze keeping it cooler than it would have been.\u00a0 Great drying weather.<\/p>\n<p>Started back to work after my leisurely few days doing touristy things.\u00a0 Did some washing so I could take advantage of the good drying conditions.\u00a0 Then I tried to mend the gutter but I think it\u2019s going to need more effort than the token push that I had hoped for.\u00a0 Might even need to put it on my ToDo list \u2013 bum!<\/p>\n<p>Despite all the other things I want to start,\u00a0 I\u2019ve really got to finish the kitchen area before Ilka gets here next week.\u00a0 That way I can show her a big proud tick next to the \u201cMake kitchen Units\u201d\u00a0 \u2026. oh yes and the kitchen units themselves of course.\u00a0 Not sure which she\u2019ll find most impressive.\u00a0 It would be nice to get the job out of the way rather than leave it hanging around.\u00a0 \u201cYou never finish a job until another one\u2019s started\u201d as my children used to tell me, or words to that effect.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.splunge.co.uk\/richnilk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/CIMG3971-Large.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1395\" title=\"CIMG3971 (Large)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.splunge.co.uk\/richnilk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/CIMG3971-Large-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.splunge.co.uk\/richnilk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/CIMG3971-Large-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.splunge.co.uk\/richnilk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/CIMG3971-Large.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So I finished all the woodworkery \u2013 mainly cladding \u2013 and re-hung some doors that were annoying me because one had warped and it could have easily looked like bad woodworkmanship to the untrained eye.\u00a0 Can\u2019t have that can I?\u00a0 I like to hide my bad workmanship under the kitchen counter.<\/p>\n<p>Nipped into town to get some bread and provisions.\u00a0 In the evening I ate early for a change ( ie. Before seven)\u00a0 and then mixed some tile adhesive to start sticking-down a few tiles on the worktop.<\/p>\n<p>Talking of mixes, I received some custard powder in the post today from my mother.\u00a0 Now that was a surprise \u2013 she must be reading my diary \u2018cos I think I was lamenting the difficulty in finding custard the other day.\u00a0\u00a0 What the postman must have thought was in the envelope is anybody\u2019s guess, but he did eye me suspiciously as he jammed the envelope in my letterbox.\u00a0\u00a0 He probably only thought it was some sort of class A drug thank-God, and not the English culinary <em>fauxpas<\/em> that is custard mix.\u00a0 I manage to sneak it out of the letterbox and into the kitchen without the neighbours suspecting anything though.\u00a0 They still haven\u2019t quite recovered from the Christmas pudding I inflicted on them some years back.\u00a0 If I had to explain custard powder to them as well I think they\u2019d be on the phone to immigration toot sweet.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway,\u00a0 thanks mum.\u00a0 Later on I might try some strawberries with custard, when all the shutters are closed. \u00a0And if you are reading my diary, perhaps it\u2019s worth mentioning that it\u2019s also <em>really<\/em> difficult to get an Aston Martin DB9 round these parts \u2013 particularly one in British Racing Green with white leather seats.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I wonder what the postman will make of that delivery!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cool start, but becoming sunny in the afternoon with a fair breeze keeping it cooler than it would have been.\u00a0 Great drying weather.
