Task 4 – A new Tarot Deck

Profound thought for the Task

The cyclical nature of the universe is closely linked with the impermanence of all things and situations. All conditions are hugely unstable. It is not true that the up-cycle is good and the down-cycle bad. They are both essential.
– Eckhart Tolle

The Task:  Design a Tarot set (or use one you know). Think of a question you need answering and do a Tarot reading.

Ok, I have to admit that I wasn’t going to create a new tarot set in order to complete this task. The truth is, I had already created a Tarot set about 15 years ago, and that took quite a bit of time, as you might imagine.

I created our own personal set of Tarot cards for a bit of fun, but also thinking that they might give us an extra perspective into our own lives where a traditional set might fail. The set consists of 4 Minor Arcana and one Major Arcana as follows:-

Sticks: Basically trees, plants, or other flora.
Stones: Megaliths, stone circles and other stone-related stuff
Fauna: Any animals (real or imaginary) that resonate with us
Time: Anything to do with times/ dates/ festivals etc.
The Major Arcana: Deals with Physics and elemental stuff

In total there are 60 cards (11 in each Minor Arcana, and 16 in the Major). After allocating a fitting photo to each card, I wrote a whole manual which describes the possible meaning of each one. This was a result of extensive research based on facts & pseudo-scientific babble with a bit of nonsense thrown in. For anyone interested in dabbling with the IlknRich Tarot set, I can send you a copy of this manual, on request.

Anyway, back to this task. Since I already had the Tarot set made, I just had to do a reading. I decided to use a simple reading of three cards, representing SELF, SITUATION, and CHALLENGES. The question I chose was “Will I complete all my eggbox challenges”. The cards that came up were:

The 3 of Fauna (a canary), for SELF
The Atom (Major Arcana), for SITUATION
The 10 of Stones (alignments), for CHALLENGES

What could all this mean?

Well, after reading my comprehensive guide, it suggests that for SELF, I may be suffering from depression, and need to find a new voice to progress. For SITUATION, the suggestion is that I could be seeing myself as separated from a universal consciousness, noting that ‘the atoms of local and non‐local consciousness, or individual and universal mind, communicate in the same indigenous language as all other atoms.’ Yeah, I thought so. For CHALLENGES it seemed to be questioning the categorisation of my moral and ethical perspectives. So it seems I still have quite a few things to contemplate if I am to complete my eggbox challenges!

And now, should you like to try this at home, here is your cut-out-and-keep IlknRich Tarot set.
